Stars are great for the quietest version of bedtime — no action, just wonder. We'll write a story where your kid notices something specific in the sky.

On the night Iris noticed the brightest star, she was sitting on the porch with her dad.
He pointed to a star very high up. "That one," he said. "That one is brighter than all of the others tonight. Do you see it?"
Iris saw it. It was, in fact, much brighter than the others.
"Why," she said.
Her dad thought for a long time. "Honestly?" he said. "I don't know. Some nights, one star just decides to be the brightest one. That star, tonight, is doing its job a little harder than the rest. Tomorrow it might be a different star."
Iris thought about that. She watched the bright star. She wondered if the bright star was tired.
Her dad kissed her on the head. "Come on," he said. "Even the bright stars sleep eventually."
Iris went inside. She got into bed. The bright star was still doing its job. And soon, so was she.
